Neopets recently reached its first milestone under a new leadership and restructuring in July, by celebrating its 24th anniversary.

Neopets' Rich Gaming History
Initially launched in 1999 as a virtual pet website, the site quickly became a popular choice for gamers back then. In 2005 the game peaked with 35 million active users and accumulated 150 million registered users globally.
However, the appeal of virtual pets gradually declined through the years as a wide range of new game titles appeared in the market. Despite the shortcomings, Neopets managed to bounce back as it is now an independent company called World of Neopia, led by Dominic Law.
"As the pioneering virtual pet website, it has given rise to games, merchandise, and a dedicated fanbase forging global friendships and gaining invaluable skills," Neopets wrote in a press release.
Neopets' Future Plans
With 24 years of experience in the gaming industry, the new leadership team is aiming to introduce new ways for players to connect with the fandom. "As we celebrate this incredible milestone and eagerly await the monumental 25th anniversary next year, the brand is gearing up with grand plans for expansion," the company hinted.
This December, fans will be able to see a Neopets brand activation at the LA Comic-Con and Hong Kong Fashion Walk, featuring exclusive merchandise and networking opportunities. Other items such as calendars, NeoHoods, and plushies await the fans for 2024.
Meanwhile, the company is working on the brand new NeoPass system that will connect games like Faerie's Hope. Alongside it, there will be a relaunch of Island Builders in the first quarter of 2024.
Most importantly, fans can fully reminisce next year as there will be a 25th-anniversary limited edition Monopoly that will be released along with the Neopets Battledome Trading Card Game With Upper Deck.
"The community behind Neopia have kept the magic of the website alive for over two decades and credit the platform for everything from starting lifelong relationships to learning the basics of coding," Law shared.
