Evernote Restricts Free Usage of App

The new restriction will force new and current free users to only have a maximum of 50 notes and one notebook per account. Users can still delete any unwanted content to free up some space before they reach the threshold.

On the other hand, any free user who currently exceeds the note and notebook limit will be allowed to view edit, export, share, and delete existing notes and notebooks. However, they would have to upgrade to a paid plan should they wish to create new notes and exceed the limit.

According to Evernote, the decision to limit up to 50 notes comes from the company's data, citing that most of the free users fall below the threshold of 50 notes and one notebook. Hence, they hope that the changes will not disrupt the overall experience of free users.

Evernote Offers Premium Plans to Exceed Limit

For users who would like to exceed the limit, Evernote's premium plans offer an affordable option for a note-taking app, starting with the Personal plan of 10GB monthly uploads that costs only $15 per month.

Meanwhile, the professional plan costs $18 per month and offers 20GB of monthly uploads and other productivity apps integration from Google, Slack, Microsoft, and more. Users are also welcome to avail the annual plans of $130 and $170, respectively.

The company then promised to provide more improvements for the app to serve their customers better in the future. "Complex improvements like these are key to making Evernote a faster, more reliable, and more powerful tool for all users," the company wrote.
