VMware's Product Simplification

Starting today, the VMware Cloud Foundation division portfolio will be offering two solutions to the customers. Firstly, the flagship enterprise-class hybrid solution will be offered to customers as a way to run their critical and modern applications.

The subscription price for the VMware Cloud Foundation was cut by half but the company promised a higher support service. Meanwhile, the VMware vSphere Foundation will offer a more simplified enterprise-grade workload platform that is open for mid-sized to smaller customers.

"The portfolio simplification across all VMware by Broadcom divisions stems from customer and partner feedback over the years telling us our offers and go-to-market are too complex," the company explained.

VMware by Broadcom Ends Sale of Perpetual Licenses

As part of the transition to subscription licenses, VMware by Broadcom has ended the sale of perpetual licenses, support and subscription renewals for it, and hybrid purchases. Starting today, the company is offering a bring-your-own-subscription license option to all its customers.

"Over the past two years, VMware has been on a journey to simplify its portfolio and transition from a perpetual to a subscription model to better serve customers with continuous innovation, faster time to value, and predictable investments," the company shared.

Customers who are using perpetual licenses can continue using them until they serve their contractual commitments. The changes are expected to bring more innovation, faster performance, and predictable investments to their customers.
