The selection comes after OpenAI and Altman's name ring throughout the year "marked a huge change for the public consciousness."

Bloomberg attributed the honor to the increased attention OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT received over the past months as more issues and opportunities arise in its integration in the tech industry.

The news organization itself has covered Altman's rise to fame since 2020, including the government's scrutiny over AI and his sudden firing last November.

Ahead of this recognition, Altman was also awarded as the 2023 "CEO of the Year" by the Time Magazine.
