Lockly Visage's Facial Recognition Lock

CES 2024 brought us yet another smart lock that goes beyond fingerprint scanning. It also functions as a touch-free unlocking system, and it would cost you just $349 to get it for your home, and all you have to do to unlock your door is approach it.

It has built-in Wi-Fi so you can control the device via the app. If you don't feel like using the facial recognition feature, the smart lock also uses other unlocking methods like PIN codes, a physical key, a keycard, and a fingerprint scanner.

Lockly boasts that the smart bolt lock is equipped with the convenient Scan-to-Open Air Transfer technology as well. Through the Lockly app which connects with the LocklyOS, you can view alerts in real-time for better security monitoring.

It communicates well with Apple devices as you can use your Apple Home Keys or Apple Watch to unlock the door. Using Matter, you can integrate it with your other smart home devices or central control system on your phone.

Of course, the smart lock being presented at the CES 2024 event means that it's merely a preview of what the smart lock company is prepared to release for the year. The certifications for the innovative lock are still pending, and the estimated release for it will be this summer.

Philips Presents Its Palm-Scanning Smart Deadbolt

Lockly is not the only company that came prepared for the event. Philips is also presenting its own innovative lock for the event. The company's new smart deadlock will be using palm scanning technology as one of its selling points.

Called the Smart Deadbolt 5000, the technology will detect the patterns on the user's hand using Palm Vein Recognition. Just like Lockly Visage, there are various ways you can open the door aside from its palm scanner, which can store up to 50 unique palm IDs.

Philips was more informative about its upcoming lock, showing many more features that a user can take advantage of. For one, the PIN code system has a lot of variations. You can assign up to 100 unique codes for each person and have one master code.

The user can create PINs that only function once and will be unusable once it's entered, and PIN codes that will only work at certain times of the day. This can be useful especially if one does not wish to be disturbed during work hours, or does not allow guests when they're not home.

The codes can be set through the Home Access app and can be enabled in real-time. This has been made possible by the built-in Wi-Fi in the smart deadbolt. It even detects your proximity from the inside, meaning that it will automatically unlock once it detects a hand near the doorknob or lever.
