CES 2024: Swarovski Optik Designs AI-Powered Binoculars That Recognize Over 9,000 Animal Species

Swarovski Optik launched the world's first AI-supported binoculars called AX Visio which is capable of recognizing more than 9,000 animal species with the power of photo and video-capturing features, during the CES 2024. 

The AX Visio is part of Swarovski Optik's 75th anniversary celebration and will be available starting February 1.

Swarovski Optik AX Visio 

The AX Visio is the first-ever of its kind to combine high-performance analog long-range optics and digital intelligence, through AI. The prominent industrial designer Marc Newson made the binoculars, marking the future of nature observation. 

"We leverage our know-how and cutting-edge production technologies to offer optimum technological solutions for each area of application. The integration of digital components and functions in our products brings significant added value," Swarovski Optik CEO, Stefan Schwarz, explained.

The binoculars can take pictures and video using a 13MP and 1080p video camera. The captured files can be shared and managed through smartphones using the Swarovski Optik Outdoor app. It also guides the user using arrow markers when observing an object. 

Swarovski Optik AX Visio Offers New Nature Experience 

According to CTO and Operations Officer Andreas Gerk, the device was made to provide users with a real viewing experience that is enhanced through digital input. Admittedly, birdwatching and animal spotting are challenging tasks if you are not familiar with them. 

"The AX Visio was developed to help you do just that - to discover the fascinating nature that surrounds us," the company wrote

The AX Visio provides 10 times magnification and has a 32mm objective lens diameter. In addition, it has a field of view at 112m/1,000m. The binoculars is currently priced at $4,799.
