Tekken 8 Director Says Guest Characters Are Still Undetermined After Tifa Lockhart Suggestion

Tekken 8 is making waves just a few days after its release. Fans of the franchise say that the latest title is the strongest of them all yet, and players are already eager to see what's in store for DLCs. There have already been some suggestions, but the Tekken 8 director says there's yet to be a decision.

New Characters for Tekken 8

It's almost predictable that players are already asking for new characters for the game, as well as providing suggestions as to who those could be. One of the most mentioned characters is Tifa Demand, who is from the Final Fantasy franchise.

Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada already shared a statement regarding the matter, specifically about the addition of Tifa Lockhart. As he jokingly mentioned that Tifa had an "attractive" design, Tekken guest characters are still to be decided by the devs, as per Game Rant.

As to why players even had the idea of adding Tifa to the roster of Tekken 8, the franchise has already added third-party characters to the scene, one of which is even from the Final Fantasy franchise, Noctis, along with Negan from "The Walking Dead."

If you've already played Tekken 8, you'll notice that there are only 32 characters compared to Tekken 7's original release having 36. The good news is that one of the rookie players' favorites is returning in a DLC, Eddy Gordo.

In case you don't remember the playable character, Eddy is a Brazilian capoeira fighter who can dance circles around any character. Anyone who isn't familiar with the control systems yet can spam any button and they still have a good chance of winning.

Should You Wait for the DLCs?

You can choose to wait for the DLCs, but the base game is already good enough to be worth the purchase now. There are several additions to the gameplay, some of which you need to familiarize yourself again with.

For one, Tekken 8 now features a Heat System, which is a mechanic that allows a player to get a surge of power that amplifies their attacks when activated, as well as perform Heat Dash and Heat Smash which deals a lot of damage.

You might also be happy to know that Rage Art can still be used despite the Heat System taking over its previously assigned button. It still works the same way as before, where you can activate it once your health drops to or below 25%.

It's also easier to perform combos now. You can toggle the list of buttons you can press and once they appear at the side of your screen, the mapping for your controls changes into automatic attacks like continuous air attacks or low blows.

Other than that, some interesting characters were added to the game such as Victor, Reina, and Azucena. Unfortunately, a number of characters did not make the cut like Bob, Miguel, Akuma, Katarina, Lei, and more. Some might be part of the upcoming DLCs like Eddy Gordo.
