OpenAI Partners with Common Sense Media to Educate Teens, Families About AI

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prominent in the tech scene, and it's about time that people properly learn what exactly is AI and what it can do. With that mission, OpenAI will work with Common Sense Media to create an initiative that will educate people better.

In partnership with Common Sense Media, the AI company giant aims to figure out how to make the tool safely, responsibly, and broadly available to teens and people who will use it as part of their educational experience, according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

This will help children, educators, and parents as well when it comes to learning about the risks and benefits that come with AI technology. As for Common Sense Media, some of its goals include determining whether AI encourages the youth to love learning.

The nonprofit's objectives also include answering questions like whether AI respects human and children's rights, as well as if the technology can continue to worsen the spread of misinformation across sites and media, as per CNBC.

Common Sense Media CEO Jim Steyer stated that the materials that will be designed during the collaboration will "be designed to educate families and educators about safe, responsible use of ChatGPT, so that we can collectively avoid any unintended consequences of this emerging technology."

This is certainly a step in the right direction, especially since AI tools are capable of many things that can be misused or exploited. This has already been apparent considering the number of deepfakes that are circulating social media right now.
