Xbox Claims 'Largest Technical Leap' for Next-Generation Console

Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed the console's feature stating that the company is preparing to deliver the "largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation."

In addition, Xbox head Phil Spencer shared that the hardware will remain the company's flagship experience along with the plan to go multi-platform.

Xbox Preps for Next-Generation Console

During the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast, Bond teased gamers about the future of the console in the following years. The president revealed that the company is developing "exciting stuff" for the hardware.

In addition, she also hinted at the roadmap that Xbox is following, highlighting the role of the next-generation hardware. This is also in line with Spencer's previous assurance that the company is investing heavily in its hardware.

"And what we're focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions they're building," Bond shared.

Next-Generation Xbox Console Release

In a leaked document, Microsoft is rumored to release a next-generation Xbox console in 2028. Last year, a series of detailed leaked documents revealed Microsoft's plan to launch refreshed hardware for Xbox Series X|S this year.

The refurbished Xbox Series X, under the codename Brooklin, featured a more compact design due to its lack of disc drive but will include 2TB internal storage and 16GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the updated Series S, or Ellewood, will include 10GB of RAM.

However, based on the president's claim, it seems that Xbox is working on a larger-scale hardware launch and not a mid-gen refresh of its ninth-generation gaming consoles.

On the other hand, Xbox is gradually loosening its exclusivity by allowing some of its game titles to be experienced on other platforms. Microsoft had already announced that four games will be available to other consoles.
