The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the LG G Pad 8.3 have officially landed on Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network and are now available for purchase.
Recent whispers have pointed to March 6 as the launch date for the two devices on Verizon's network, and it now turns out they were true. Both the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the LG G Pad are now available from the carrier's online store and should soon hit retail stores as well.
If you're looking for a smaller tablet with good specs and a more affordable price tag, the LG Pad 8.3 may be just what you need. The slate costs just $99.99 if you sign a new two-year contract with Verizon. It's worth pointing out, however, that this option is listed as a "limited time offer." Otherwise, the Verizon LG G Pad 8.3 costs $299.99 on a month-to-month payment plan. For some reason, however, the off-contract price of the tablet is $50 lower than that of the standard Wi-Fi model and the Google Play Edition version with AOSP.
In terms of specifications, the LG tablet sports an 8.3-inch full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and stereo speakers for a quality audio experience. On the downside, LG's skinned Android 4.2.2 version and Verizon's notorious preference for locked bootloaders may not make the LTE version of the tablet very popular within the ROM community.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, meanwhile, is considered one of the highest-end tablets currently available on the market. The slate comes with a massive 12.2-inch screen with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and, being part of the Galaxy Note family, it also boasts S Pen stylus functionality and Wacom digitizer technology.
Verizon Wireless is the first carrier to offer the LTE version of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. This model boasts a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a hefty 3B of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support, an 8-megapixel camera, and a large 9,000 mAh battery. The tablet also features Samsung's new standard USB 3.0 port for charging and faster data transfer. On the software side, the Note Pro 12.2 runs the Android 4.4 KitKat OS and Samsung's new "Pro" version of its TouchWiz user interface.
All of those high-end specs and features, however, come with a price to match. The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 starts at a whopping $749.99, and that's with a two-year contract. With a month-to-month plan, it will cost you an extra $200.
