LG G3 reportedly ‘confirmed’ to rock 5.5-inch QHD display with 534 ppi

The upcoming LG G3 smartphone has starred in several rumors so far, and the latest report claims to have confirmation regarding the handset's QHD display.

Rumors about the LG G3 started to intensify in the past few weeks and continue to fly high and low ahead of the big unveiling. After famous tipster @evleaks posted a screenshot of the smartphone's user agent profile (UAPROF), hinting at a QHD display, a new report now claims to have confirmation in this regards.

The folks over at PhoneArena claim to have received confirmation that the LG G3 will indeed boast a QHD display, rocking a 5.5-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution.

"There have been rumors here and there that the G3 will have an incredibly high-resolution display, and we now have confirmation from a source at LG that the next LG flagship will indeed feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD display," PhoneArena reported over the weekend.

A 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 would translate to a whopping pixel density of 534 pixels per inch (ppi). As the publication points out, this may be the same display LG showed off back in August 2013, rated at 538 ppi. If the LG G3 makes its debut with a QHD display ahead of the Oppo Find 7, it will be the first smartphone to rock such a high pixel density. The Oppo Find 7 is expected to use a display with the same specifications.

Moreover, Phone Arena's source further claimed to have some information about the handset's software features. While no specific details are available, the source said the G3 will come with "advanced personalization" features. No word so far on what those features will actually consist of, or whether they will be part of Google Now or LG's custom software.

Nothing is official at this point regarding the LG G3, but previous rumors also indicated that the smartphone will be dust- and water-resistant. Considering the recent trend of more rugged smartphones, it would make sense for LG to join the party with its 2014 flagship smartphone.

No other details are currently available in terms of specifications, but the LG G3 could launch with the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and at least 2GB of RAM, if not 3GB. The smartphone is expected to launch sometime in mid-May, but LG is yet to make an official announcement. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
