Overwatch 2 Introduces 'Cowboy Bebop' as Next Anime Collaboration

Blizzard revealed a new trailer for Overwatch 2's big crossover event featuring the 90s anime series "Cowboy Bebop."

The special collaboration will launch during the start of the ninth season on March 12.

Overwatch 2 Partners With 'Cowboy Bebop'

The trailer for the special event unveiled a spoof of the anime's iconic animated sequence and is accompanied by the opening theme song "Tank" by Yoko Kanno. Familiar characters like Cassidy, Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine, Mauga, Jet Black, Wrecking Ball, Ein, and Sombra.

Blizzard first teased the collaboration last month with a short hint on the season 9 trailer. There are still missing details about the event but the latest trailer revealed that the heroes are preparing for a train heist.

Fans are already hyped up for the upcoming season. In addition, gamers are now curious as to how much the exclusive anime skins will cost and if it will be locked behind the season pass, similar to the $40 Diablo IV collaboration.

Overwatch Partners With Anime, K-Pop

The collaboration with "Coyboy Bebop" marked the game's second anime collaboration. Previously, the studio partnered with "One-Punch Man" which brought a limited-time game mode.

During the event, four exclusive "One-Punch Man"-themed skins were dropped in the game. It featured Saitama Dommfist, Terrible Tornado Kiriko, Genos Genji, and Mumen Rider Soldier: 76.

Outside anime, Blizzard also collaborated with K-pop group LE SSERAFIM which marked its first-ever musical collaboration. The partnership brought a music video for the song "Perfect Night" along with an exclusive in-game event. The group also made a BlizzCon appearance.
