10 Google Gemini Functions You Might Not Know About

Typically, people only use chatbots for general questions, maybe even ask Gemini to do their homework for them. However, there is a wide array of functions that the AI tool can do, and knowing what they are might help you with certain tasks for both personal and work purposes.

1. Compose Music

Gemini is not just capable of generating the essay you forgot to write about that's due in an hour. Since it's a more advanced model, it can create a short piece of music based on the genre or mood you provide for it. It will only give you the lyrics, but there are plenty of other AI tools that can generate the tune for you.

2. Verify Information

When you ask the chatbot to write an article for you, there's a chance that it could hallucinate details and add false information to the mix. However, it is capable of verifying information online when you give it data. Gemini will not only determine factual inconsistencies, it could even point out potential biases.

3. Identify Data Patterns

When you have a whole lot of data to sift through, it might take you hours to analyze important patterns within them like trends or hidden correlations. With the AI chatbot, it can easily spot patterns that may not be apparent at first glance. It can browse through thousands of words and manage to spot them in under a minute.

4. Simplifying Texts

You might've come across some texts that could be too technical for you, and it's not always easy to research every single word that you're unfamiliar with. Using Gemini, the complicated technical jargon will be broken down into simpler words, making them easier to understand. You can always ask the chatbot more about the topic if it fails to simplify certain areas of the text.

5. Revising Your Writing Style

Writing can get complicated when you have to write formally, perhaps for your boss or your employees. If you feel like your message seems a little too informal, you can submit it to the chatbot and ask it to make a more business-appropriate format. It will only adjust the tone but will keep the meaning and premise of the message.

6. Create Fictional Stories

It can generate a fictional story as soon as you ask it to without even providing detailed information. However, you can also choose to include descriptions you would prefer like how the characters look, where the story takes place, and what the basic plot will be. You can even specify how long you want the story to be.

7. Brainstorming

The beauty of Gemini is that its sources are regularly updated, so basically, you have all the knowledge in the world at your fingertips barring a few delays. If you're drawing a blank on ideas, just ask Gemini to pitch in and it can generate tons of topics you can look into. You can even ask it for subcategories to narrow down your brainstorming session.

8. Summarize Long Texts

This is pretty common for chatbots, but with Gemini, you'll be able to not only generate a quick overview of the topic, but you can also choose the format it will be in. For instance, you can ask the chatbot to lay it out in bullet points so they might be easier to read. It can even create a timeline in the event that it's a significant factor in the topic.

9. Writing Code

While it won't be able to write code to the point that it will be able to create a functioning video game or app, it can generate code that you can use as a starting point. In fact, it can do so in various programming languages, depending on what you're comfortable with or what you need the code for.

10. Writing Scripts

In scenarios where you might need a script for a video, you could also ask Gemini for help. All you need to do is provide specifics that will allow the chatbot to create a comprehensive script. You can even specify what it's for so it can write the script in an appropriate tone. For instance, a news script will be more formal and informative.
