Stardew Valley 1.6 Update, Patch Notes Are Out

For a while, fans of the farming simulator had to settle for the little crumbs of information that Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone posts on X. Now, an official list of additions and changes have been posted for the 1.6 update, and there are a lot of things to unload here.

Festivals

Events within the game not only allow players to have unique interactions with the residents of Stardew Valley, but they also yield awards and items that you will only find in that particular event. There are new occasions that the player can participate in every in-game year.

One would be the Desert Festival, which would last for three days. Of course, it can only be accessed once the bus has been repaired. ConcernedApe also teased a new environmental "event" during the summer season.

Since fishing is a big part of the game, players might be glad to know that there are two new fishing mini fishing festivals, one is the Trout Derby and the other is the SquidFest. There's not much disclosed about what the mini and major festivals will bring.

New Farm Type

This could be good news for new players, but not so much for existing players who already put a lot of work into their farms. If they want to experience the new Meadowlands Farm, they will have to start from the beginning, but they won't do so with nothing.

The new farm type will already have a coop on the land, and it has two chickens in it. It will also a a unique feature that makes it stand out among the others. It will have "chewy blue grass" that animals will love.

Additional NPC Dialogues

If you've been playing the Stardew Valley for a while, you probably already know the dialogues by heart. The good news is that the update brings new interactions, some of which are reactions to certain events, or reactions to gifts you give them.

There are also a few additions to dialogues concerning romantic partners, such as Maru during her 14-heart event, acceptance dialogues from Emily and Shane for the flower dance, and two randomized dialogues when NPCs buy items you sold to the shop.

Pets

There's not much you can do for pets other than refill their bowls and admire them, but that doesn't mean that you don't want to have more. After you get the maximum hearts for your starter pet, you'll be able to get another one.

This addition also pairs well with another update, wherein pets will provide you with gifts when they love you. Having more than one pet would increase your chances of getting more gifts. Plus, you can now have turtles as pets.

New Items

The new items are one of the most exciting parts of the update, some of which are similar to items from Minecraft. For instance, there are now big chests so you can store more items, and you can upgrade a smaller chest by placing another one onto it.

There are also signs now where you can add text, which makes it easier to label chests in your storage room. You can expect new equipment such as the Dehydrator, the Fish Smoker, the Bait Maker, the Heavy Furnace, and the Mini-Forge.

Adding to the last resort items like Totems for teleportation is the Tent Kit. We can only cut it so close at night before our character passes out from exhaustion, so we have to rush to bed before it happens. With the Tent Kit, you can build a tent and sleep where you are for one night.
