OpenAI, the chatbot's creator, announced the collaboration between its AI image and text generators seemingly in a way to expand the functions of ChatGPT.

In addition, users accessing the image generator on ChatGPT will be greeted with image suggestions to "inspire" their prompts. Users can also use the suggested AI-generated images as the base for their edits.

Image suggestions will vary in style and design, such as acrylic, baroque, and gothic.

The new feature will be available to users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus across the web, iOS, and Android platforms.

Harder to Detect AI-Generated Images

While the latest upgrades in ChatGPT will be a boon to its avid users, a more accessible editing option opens a new can of worms around concerns about the AI's impact on the information landscape.

Although OpenAI has already employed various policies to prevent its products from being abused to spread misinformation, various studies indicate otherwise.

A recent research from digital advocacy group Center for Countering Digital Hate found that ChatGPT Plus is still generating political misinformation despite OpenAI promising it will not.

Allowing people to easily edit AI-generated images will make it harder to detect as inconsistencies will be more hidden.

OpenAI Improving Credibility of AI Products

So far, OpenAI has been moving to gain people's trust in its technologies after several issues emerged from its products.

A notable change is the addition of digital watermarks on images on images generated from its platforms.

The company is also enforcing more safety tests and red teams to look for exploit gateways and vulnerabilities on both ChatGPT and DALL-E.
