Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition starts getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA

Samsung has finally started to roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to its Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, but only for the Wi-Fi model for now.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is a high-end tablet with a large display, and it launched last September alongside the company's flagship Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was the very first Samsung device to get a taste of the chocolaty KitKat OS, other devices were left waiting for an update. It now seems that the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is ready to get the latest software, although not all regions will get it yet.

According to a new SamMobile report, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has started to roll out to the Wi-Fi-only models of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition in Colombia for now, reaching devices with model number SM-P600. The rollout will likely reach other territories soon enough, and 4G LTE models should get the same treatment as well.

Samsung often pushes out such updates into a single territory and for a single model at first, to test out the waters and see how the update is received, and it everything goes smoothly a wider rollout follows shortly.

The update should bring all of the goodies Android 4.4.2 KitKat has to offer, which includes enhanced features and several improvements, faster and smoother performance, wireless printing support, white status bar icons, full-screen album art, a new camera shortcut added to the lock screen, and more treats. The new software will also add general stability improvements, as expected, and will also allow users to select their preferred home and SMS apps.

The update is rolling out over the air (OTA), which means that it may take a while to reach all devices. Users will receive notifications when the update is ready to download and install, but it remains unclear at this point just when the new software version will hit other regions as well. Nevertheless, this rollout means that the update is ready and it shouldn't take too long now for all Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition devices in all regions to get Android 4.4.2 KitKat. We'll keep you up to date on the progress, so stay tuned.
