Wuthering Waves Under Fire After Bug-Riddled Mobile Launch

Wuthering Waves is being blasted on social media by waves of disappointed players following a bug-filled release on mobile platforms.

Since its official launch last Wednesday, most discussions of the game on social media surround bugs, glitches, and errors players have found right after starting the game.

Enemies and characters would often get stuck in their default stances even while moving, with occasional lag spikes, inconsistent graphics quality, and overheating issues.

Players Blame Unreal Engine for Mobile Game Bugs

Many pointed to the game engine, Unreal Engine 4, as the main cause for the terrible lags and graphic bugs throughout the Wuthering Waves experience.

Several players who looked at the game's assets also found that most character details are separate from the character itself, forcing the game to render multiple moving assets at the same time.

Unlike the Unity game engine, UE 4 is only compatible with a small number of phones and devices.

It does not help that the game immediately requires over 12 GB of storage, making it harder for older and lower-quality phones to handle as compared to other gacha games.

While this is not their first game, it is worth noting that Wuthering Games developer Kuro Games has never made an open-world adventure game before, a far departure from their previous titles like Punishing: Gray Raven.

How to Fix Wuthering Waves Bugs

As the issues are most likely in the game's source code, there is not much players can do to fix all of the glitches in Wuthering Waves.

That said, high-end mobile phone owners can still try a few remedies before giving up on the game.

Mobile players can disable the game's display optimization and remove bloom effects to reduce the number of details and game assets UE 4 is rendering at the same time.

These functions can be accessed via the in-game settings at graphics. Settings other details to Low or Medium may also reduce some stress on the phone and may alleviate some heat.

While these changes would make Wuthering Waves vastly different from the advertisements, at least players could still experience and see the game for what it is without experiencing bugs every few steps.
