The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition is now discounted by 80% and at its lowest price ever on Steam until May 30.

The game is currently on sale for only $7.99 as opposed to its original price of $39.99.

Bethesda Drops Price of Skyrim Special Edition

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition was released in 2016 as a remastered version of the original 2011 game. The special edition included various improvements in graphics, DLCs, and mod support.

In addition, the game also had a significant stability improvement which prevented the game from crashing compared to the original release. The special edition also utilizes a 64-bit architecture, a step above its original 32-bit version.

Bethesda has been offering various discounts for the game over the years. However, this will be the first time that it will come with an 80% off the price. The promo also includes 50% off for the Anniversary Edition of the game making it available for only $9.99.

Skyrim Special Edition Receives Very Positive Response

It has been seven years since the remastered game was launched on Steam. Despite that, Skyrim Special Edition holds over 160,000 "Very Positive" user reviews on Steam. The game is still considered one of the best open-world RPGs of its generation.

The Elder Scrolls 5 community is still actively participating in the modding scene, allowing players to find new ways to enjoy the game. The Special Edition is also known for its character customization and storylines.

The current sale of the game boosted its overall sales and has managed to land Steam's Top Sellers charts. As of May 26, lands at number nine, just a step behind Hades 2.
