Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini leak reveals dual-SIM support

Leaks regarding a yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini are starting to intensify and the latest one now claims that it may have dual-SIM support.

While nothing is official at this point, the smaller version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 has leaked on several occasions so far. The name of the device has varied, but one thing all leaks have in common is the G800 model number, which is widely believed to be for the Galaxy S5 Mini.

Samsung was the one to start this whole trend of launching a high-end flagship smartphone and then build on its success with several spinoffs, including a watered-down Mini version with a smaller form factor and lower price tag. The "Mini" trend caught on and other smartphone makers followed suit, and Samsung also continued to launch Mini versions of its flagship Galaxy smartphones. The company is expected to do the same this year and release a smaller Galaxy S5 soon.

A new report now indicates that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini may sport dual-SIM capabilities when it launches. While dual-SIM is not very popular in the U.S., it is in emerging markets and could really boost the success of a handset.

The latest leak lists a Samsung handset with model number SM-G800, which was spotted on Indian import-tracking website Zauba. The site lists a device with a 4.5-inch display, which falls in line with previous rumors about the Galaxy S5 Mini. Zauba lists the dual-SIM version with model number SM-G800H, as well as another variant with model number SM-G800F_EUR_XX, which is believed to be aimed at the European market.

Based on leaks and rumors so far, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is expected to sport a 4.5-inch display with 720p resolution, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, and a micro SD card slot for additional memory. The smartphone will also reportedly feature an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.5-megapixel front shooter. On the software side, the Galaxy S5 Mini is expected to launch with the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board out of the box.

When it comes to the actual launch date, recent rumors suggest that it may debut sometime in June. With no official word from Samsung, however, take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a grain of salt for now.
