Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime to hit UK in June with £649 price tag unlocked?

The upgraded Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will reportedly make its debut in the UK next month, launching with a £649 price tag.

Rumors of a Galaxy S5 Prime variant have been making rounds for quite some time, suggesting that an even higher-end model of the flagship will hit the market soon, boasting top-of-the-line specs and features.

Just last week, the folks over at Geeky Gadgets reported that this purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will land in the UK in June. The same source has now given the publication some pricing details for the upcoming powerhouse.

According to the publication's source, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will go on sale in the UK for £649. The price is for the SIM-free version of the handset, without the need to commit to a lengthy contract with a mobile operator.

The current Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone sports a price tag of £579 unlocked in the UK. If the Prime version does indeed sport notable improvements over the standard model, a £649 price is not that outrageous by comparison.

The much-rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to boast a 5.1-inch QHD display with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the device will reportedly pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.5GHz.

Other rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime include a hefty 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity, as well as a microSD card slot that will allow for additional memory of up to 128GB. The premium version of the flagship Galaxy S5 is also expected to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. On the software side, the handset will launch with Google's latest Android 4.4 KitKat on board, topped with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI.

Samsung has yet to confirm any plans to launch a premium version of its current flagship, which means that this purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime remains in the rumor state for now. According to Geeky-Gadgets, the smartphone will launch in the UK "around the third or fourth week of June," but nothing is certain at this point. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, but take everything with a grain of salt in the meantime.
