Microsoft Surface Pro 3 details leak, reveal partial specs and prices for five configurations

Some intriguing details have leaked regarding the rumored Microsoft Surface 3, revealing partial specs for five different configurations along with their price tags.

Microsoft will be holding an event in just a couple of days, on May 20, where the company is widely expected to unveil a Surface Mini tablet. Recently, however, the rumor mill started churning about a new-generation Surface Pro tablet as well, which will reportedly debut alongside the Surface Mini on May 20.

New details have now surfaced (no pun intended) regarding this purported Surface Pro 3, revealing five different configurations for the slate, complete with pricing details for each model.

The third-generation Microsoft Surface Pro tablet is rumored to boast a larger display, possibly in the 12-inch range, while also sporting slimmer bezels and placing the Windows button on the vertical side rather than the horizontal one. According to a new report from WPCentral, Microsoft is preparing to unleash no less than five Surface Pro 3 configurations.

The cheapest and most basic Surface Pro 3 model will reportedly pack an Intel Core i3 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage capacity, sporting a $799 price tag. The next version will move up to an Intel core i5 chip, the same amount of RAM (4GB), and a larger 128GB internal storage capacity, all for $999.

Another variant will come with the same Intel Core i5 chip, but 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage capacity for $1,299, while a higher-end version will pack an Intel Core i7 chip, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage capacity, at a higher price of $1,549. Lastly, the top-of-the-line model will come with an Intel Core i7 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of internal storage capacity and will cost $1,949.

WPCentral's source further claimed that Microsoft will also offer new Type Covers as well, likely to accommodate the Surface Pro 3's larger display. Color options will reportedly include black, purple, cyan, and red. The latter may be exclusive to Microsoft, which means that it will only be available in Microsoft Stores.

None of these details are confirmed at this point, so it is highly advisable to take everything with a grain of salt for now. With Microsoft's event just around the corner, however, we'll soon learn all the exciting details straight from the source.
