Xbox Live has now returned to normal operation after affecting thousands of gamers during its seven-hour widespread outage.
The issue started when players were unable to sign in on their account and Microsoft quickly investigated the situation.
Xbox Live Suffers Outage Affecting 38,000 Players
According to Downdetector, the outage had a peak of more than 38,000 individual outage reports. The Xbox Live status page also flagged the incident as a major outage which alarmed gamers.
Xbox continuously updated the situation on their X account, reporting the status of the investigation. According to Microsoft most of the affected users are those who use Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles.
"You may not be able to sign in to your Xbox profile, may be disconnected while signed in, or have other related problems," the status page advised during the outage.
Xbox Live Returns to Normal, Outage Remains Mystery
Despite Microsoft's attempt to quickly resolve the issue, the whole outage took seven hours. Several fans were flooding social media accounts to complain about the issue.
Moreover, Xbox did not disclose the results of the investigation. A huge outage that affected thousands of gamers is seeking an explanation from the company.
In an X post under the Xbox Support account, the company announced that all users should no longer encounter any sign-in issues on Xbox Live. It also acknowledged the patience of the gamers during the situation.
Some users asking for a game credit, gift card, or a free month of game pass for the damage that has been done during the outage.
Microsoft has yet to announce if there will be compensation for the affected players.
