Many changes have been made to how Twitter used to be since Elon Musk bought the platform, and it appears that another change is about to be made. X, which is what is Twitter is called nowadays, and Elon Musk are on their way to change how the block feature works soon.
In this change, the platform will allow those who have been blocked by public accounts to still see the posts of the one who blocked. Other actions, however, remain prohibited.
X's Block Feature to Undergo Changes
Independent app researcher Nima Owji shared the upcoming change pertaining to X's block feature, which gives a user less control over preventing other people from seeing their tweets. This will drastically change how the block feature works on X.
Previously, it previously prevented all kinds of content from being seen by a blocked person. This includes posts, media, replies, and direct messages. However, that is about to change especially for public accounts.
It was previously hinted by Elon Musk that this change is coming for the block feature, but he has not yet revealed the exact reason for this.

Elon Musk: Block to Only Prevent Engagements
According to Musk's reply to Owji, it is "high time this happened," showing that the X owner is fully onboard with this change to X's block feature. Musk further claim that the block function will now only work for engagements, which will prevent blocked users from replying to and liking posts, reposting, quoting, or messaging the account that blocked them.
However, in terms of visibility, a public account will still be available to view. This can only be changed if they go private.
Elon Musk and His Changes to X
Twitter has changed big time since Elon Musk stepped in, and it has become a main focus for the platform to bring better features to verified accounts, particularly those who are subscribed to X Premium. Apart from the name change, the platform has prioritized those who have the blue check, including their replies on posts, but it has been reverted again in a recent update to allow users to sort their replies.
After long holding out on a feature that other social media platforms with chat have applied, X recently introduced the edit feature for users to enjoy in their DMs. In addition, Musk previously hid the like count on people's posts, but then brought it back. X likewise explored the option of putting a dislike button, which is similar to Reddit's downvote.
Recently, X Premium users were given first access to xAI's Grok AI chatbot on the platform. However, it faced massive controversies with its hallucinations and misinformation.
