Verizon Droid Turbo leaks in retail packaging, boasts Turbo Charger in the box

Just two days ahead of its official unveiling on Oct. 28, the Motorola Droid Turbo for Verizon Wireless has leaked in its retail packaging, complete with a Turbo Charger.

The upcoming Verizon Droid Turbo from Motorola has leaked extensively over the past few weeks, and virtually everything about the device has already surfaced. The smartphone's specs leaked out, various images popped up, and even its entire user manual surfaced online, so all that's left is for the handset to make its official debut.

Verizon has recently set up a countdown on its DroidDoes website, which deals with all-things-Droid, and it suggests an official Droid Turbo unveiling set for Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The folks over at Moto Firmware have now posted a bunch of new images on Twitter, showing the upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo in its retail packaging, complete with the much-touted Turbo Charger in the box. Moreover, the same source also claimed in a subsequent tweet that the actual commercial launch is set for Oct. 30, two days after the unveiling, and some retailers already have the device in stock.

Based on leaks and reports so far, the Verizon Droid Turbo will come with powerful specifications all around, launching as a beefed-up Moto X. More specifically, the smartphone will reportedly boast a QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor under the hood, a hefty 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage capacity. Other rumored specs for the Motorola Droid Turbo include a 21-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording, a large 3,900 mAh battery, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat on the software side.

In terms of design, the Droid Turbo reportedly features a Kevlar back, reminiscent of previous Droid and RAZR models, but sports capacitive buttons on the front like the newer Droids.

Verizon is apparently gearing up for a single Motorola Droid model this year, instead of a full lineup. The carrier does, however, offer other Motorola smartphones, including the new Moto X (2014) and the Nexus 6 (when it's ready for launch).

As previously mentioned, Verizon will formally take the wraps off the new Motorola Droid Turbo on Tuesday, Oct. 28, so we'll soon know the official scoop straight from the source. We'll keep you up to date as soon as it's official, so stay tuned.
