Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 just $1.00 on-contract from Amazon

Amazon has a new deal in place for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, offering the phablet for just $1.00 when signing a new two-year contract with Verizon Wireless.

Samsung was the pioneer of the whole phablet category, and faced plenty of skepticism when it launched the original Galaxy Note a few years back. Nevertheless, consumers have proved to be quite open to the idea of a supersized smartphone after all and the phablet trend caught on. Various other companies joined the party and launched large smartphones of their own, but Samsung still remained the king of phablets with its highly successful Galaxy Note range.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was widely considered the best phablet on the market when it came out back in 2013, enjoying great popularity worldwide. Samsung has since launched its new-generation Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, both with various improvements on all fronts, but the Galaxy Note 3 still delivers a great performance even though it's not the latest anymore.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 386 pixels per inch (ppi) and packs a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with Adreno 330 graphics and 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory of up to 64GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, while a 3,200 mAh battery keeps things up and running. On the software side, the device ships with Android 4.3, but it should receive an update to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop soon enough.

Of course, being part of the Note series, the Galaxy Note 3 also offers the much-touted S Pen stylus with all of its neat features and functionality.

If you don't necessarily have to have the latest Galaxy Note iteration, Amazon's special price for the previous Samsung flagship phablet may be a pretty good deal. As previously mentioned, the retailer is offering the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for just $1.00 when agreeing to sign a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless. Considering that Verizon itself is selling a pre-owned Galaxy Note 3 for $99.99 on a two-year contract, Amazon's deal for a new phablet is even more enticing.
