Sprint LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA rolling out

Sprint has officially started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its version of the LG G3, pushing the update over the air (OTA).

LG was among the first OEMs to announce plans to deliver the last major version of Android to its flagship smartphone, and the LG G3 already got Android 5.0 Lollipop in some regions. The update started rolling out back in late 2014 to the LG G3 in South Korea, then made its way to Europe with Poland as the first country to get it.

Carrier versions of smartphones in the U.S., however, are typically not among the first in line to receive new software updates. The LG G3 is no exception, as the update saw some delays in reaching U.S. carrier versions. Nevertheless, the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is gradually making its way to more LG G3 smartphones, and the latest U.S. carrier to start rolling out the update is Sprint.

AT&T was the first U.S. carrier to start rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its LG G3 last week, and another carrier has just joined the party. Sprint has officially announced that it started the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA rollout on Monday, Feb. 16, which means that the update should reach all handsets by the end of this week.

The carrier lists a number of neat new features and improvements included in this update, aiming to enhance the performance of the LG G3, so make sure to check out the announcement for a detailed changelog.

When it comes to other carrier versions of the LG G3, meanwhile, it remains unclear for now just when Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive. Verizon and T-Mobile have yet to announce their plans to update their versions of the LG G3, but are expected to follow suit shortly.

In the meantime, AT&T and Sprint are the only U.S. carriers to update their LG G3 versions to Android 5.0 Lollipop. As always with OTA updates, remember that the rollout is gradual and it may take a while to reach all devices.
