BLU Win HD LTE Windows Phone smartphone hits Microsoft Store - $199 unlocked

BLU just launched a new Windows Phone smartphone, as a mid-range BLU Win HD LTE just made its way to the Microsoft Store.

Windows Phone smartphones may consist mostly of Lumia offerings, but other companies still make handsets for the platform as well.

BLU doesn't typically make a lot of fuss when launching new devices, but it has some interesting offerings nonetheless. BLU smartphones have so far proved to be reliable and affordable, delivering a decent performance for their price and category.

A new BLU Win HD LTE has now popped up on the Microsoft Store, coming as the successor to the BLU Win HD that made its debut last year. The new iteration comes with several improvements over its predecessor and, as the name itself suggests, it's LTE-enabled.

In terms of specifications, the new BLU Win HD LTE features a 5-inch IPS HD display (1280 x 720 pixels), a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory of up to 32GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,500 mAh battery.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in addition to LTE, and the handset will also come with dual-SIM support. On the software side, the new BLU Win HD LTE ships with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 on board, but will receive an update to the latest Windows 10 once the OS is ready to roll out.

"Join the speedy world of LTE and Windows 8.1 with the colorful and powerful Win HD LTE. It features a brilliant 5-inch HD display, a lightning-fast quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, and Windows Phone 8.1. This feather-light phone also has Dual SIMs and a microSD card slot, which gives you expandable storage capacity of up to 32GB on top of the 8GB of internal storage," Microsoft touts on its product page for the new BLU Win HD LTE.

BLU's latest Windows Phone handset may not be the highest-end smartphone out there, but it should nonetheless provide a more than decent performance for its price. The handset is available for $199 unlocked from the Microsoft Store and comes in four color options: white, gray, yellow, and orange.
