Lenovo Vibe Shot spotted in new variant with 720p display on TENAA

Lenovo is apparently getting ready to launch a new version of its Vibe Shot smartphone, as a lower-specced variant surfaced on TENAA.

The company introduced its high-end, camera-centric Lenovo Vibe Shot smartphone back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, sporting a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), among the highlights.

At the time, the company did not mention any plans to launch multiple versions of the handset, but it now seems that a new variant of the Lenovo Vibe Shot is in the cards. China's TENAA certification authority, which is the country's equivalent of the FCC, has listed a new model of the handset.

According to this new listing on TENAA, the upcoming Lenovo Vibe Shot variant will come with similar measurements in terms of size and sport a 5-inch display, but with a lower HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) instead of the full HD one found on the original model.

The rest of the smartphone's specifications seem to remain unchanged compared to the original model, as TENAA lists the new Lenovo Vibe Shot with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, and a microSD card slot for additional memory. The handset is also expected to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter, as well as Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on board out of the box. The smartphone also seems to have dual-SIM support with 4G LTE connectivity.

It remains unclear at this point just when this new Lenovo Vibe Shot smartphone will see the light of day, but the TENAA listing indicates that it's on its way. There's a strong possibility, however, that this handset is a variant aimed at the Chinese market, which means that it may not reach other markets worldwide.

Lenovo has made no announcement so far regarding a new version of its Vibe Shot smartphone, but it should offer some official details closer to launch. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
