Motorola Droid Maxx on sale for $179.99 refurbished

The Motorola Droid Maxx smartphone is now available at a neat price refurbished, selling for nearly $500 off its original retail price.

The Droid Maxx may not be the latest one in the series anymore, but it is nonetheless a very capable device able to deliver a more than decent performance. Amazon subsidiary Woot is now having a great deal on the refurbished Motorola Droid Maxx, selling the smartphone for just $179.99.

As a reminder, the Motorola Droid Maxx features a 5-inch AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, packs the same dual-core X8 processor found on the original Moto X, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 10-megapixel rear camera, and a beefy 3,500 mAh battery, among the highlights.

In terms of design, the Motorola Droid Maxx has a rugged Kevlar body for extra durability, and it also comes with physical navigation buttons. On the software side, the handset comes with a nearly stock version of Android, which means it has little manufacturer bloatware on top of Google's OS. The Droid Maxx currently runs the older Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but it will receive an update to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime in the future. Verizon is not the promptest carrier when it comes to delivering updates, but the Droid Maxx should nonetheless get a taste of Lollipop soon.

The smartphone is also LTE-enabled, working with Verizon Wireless' network, using a nano-SIM card. It's also worth pointing out that it is not locked to Verizon's network, which means that it will also work on GSM networks such as AT&T, T-Mobile, or other global operators. On the other hand, Verizon has unique LTE bands and the Motorola Droid Maxx will not work on other networks' LTE, so users will have to make do with 3G speeds if they want to switch over to another carrier.

At the time of writing, this limited-time deal has 17 hours left, or until supplies run out. The refurbished Motorola Droid Maxx comes with a 90-day warranty, and will ship to the U.S. for $5.
