Motorola Droid Ultra now $239.99 unlocked from Amazon

The Motorola Droid Ultra is now available at a neat discount, as Amazon is offering the handset for $239.99 instead of its regular $349.99 price tag.

Motorola's Droid lineup of smartphones for Verizon Wireless has proved to be quite popular over the years, as it consists of durable handsets with good specs and long battery life, while also sporting affordable price tags for what they bring to the table.

The Verizon-bound Droid Ultra may no longer be the latest and greatest Droid out there, but it's nonetheless a powerful smartphone that still packs a punch for its category. The Droid Ultra is virtually a slightly altered version of the original Moto X, with a larger 5-inch HD screen and some other minor changes, but it's still not a high-end powerhouse.

Under the hood, the Verizon Droid Ultra packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor part of the X8 computing system, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include a 16GB of internal storage capacity, a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, a 2-megaixel front shooter, and a non-removable 2,130 mAh battery that will last for up to 28 hours of talk time and up to 13 days of standby time.

The Motorola Droid Ultra is also built with ruggedness in mind, sporting a splash-resistant display and a Dupont Kevlar fiber unibody design that makes it highly durable. The smartphone also comes with some neat software features borrowed from the Moto X, such as allowing the user to issue voice commands without having to pick up the smartphone. The Droid Ultra is always listening for the owner's voice, ready to complete spoken tasks.

According to the Droid Turbo listing on Amazon, this $239.99 pricing allows for savings of $110 (31 percent), but only limited quantities are available. The price is for the unlocked, contract-free handset, but make sure to check out CDMA and GSM compatibility before making your purchase.
