Tesla's Model S Proves Better Than GM's Chevy Volt

When the giant American automotive company General Motors designed their Chevy Volt model, the company's engineers come with a smart gasoline/electric engine solution aiming to offer owners an extended driving range before the car's batteries required to be charged up again. In the meantime, the Tesla Model S came out on the market to provide owners a solely electric drive.

Both these American automaker companies targeted the growing market for electric vehicles with their own specific strategies. Tesla adopted a direct sales strategy for their Model S, while GM tried to offer Volt through a widespread dealer network. It proved that Tesla's strategy was successful over GM and that, with 11,507 Model S cars sold in just the second quarter of the year 2015 and 10,000 vehicles sold as of last year, its Model S sales recently managed to break its own record. This success of Tesla is far better to the Chevy Volt's amount of cars sold globally. Tesla's success with Model S is an outcome that nobody really expected.

The Tesla Model S still managed to succeed in the EV market and surpass GM's Volt sales, even if it costs around $70,000. Its price is similar to a luxury brand. GM's Volt was initially priced at $40,000 but, in an aim to increase sales, later on, GM has tried to reduce Volt's price tag with a further $5,000. Unfortunately, GM's sales strategy has not worked out as expected.

Tesla Model S has come to the market with an untested battery record, while the company did not have any previous experience in manufacturing electric vehicles. It might be surprising, at the first sight, how this young automotive company managed to its great success with the Model S. Well, if we take a look at the specifications of both Model S and Volt, a different picture starts to emerge.

Tesla's team of designers and engineers managed to pull out for its Model S some innovative high-tech features and a sleek design. Even the more experienced GM could not come with something better. Chevy Volt by GM is a heavy, bulky and slow car. Due to these underperforming design features the gas-electric mixt solution ended up satisfying almost no one. The Model S, on the other side, was built sleeker in shape, looking sporty, luxurious and modern. These top features made Model S succeed on almost all occasions.

The Model S outrides the Volt in terms of interior design, as well. It is much more comfortable and looks up-to-the-minute. Tesla's Model S' interior looks classy, smooth, and simply astonishing. It comes with a 17-inch touchscreen in dashboard's center, which outperforms by far the 7-inch LCD screen of the Chevy Volt. Vehicle, cabin, and climate controls built-in the Tesla's Model S touchscreen provide an enhanced driver experience and better interaction with the vehicle.

The Model S, with its aero-dynamics and powertrain, is able to quickly accelerate in just 3.1 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. All these top features permitted Tesla's Model S to aim to a high-priced market. With its high-tech batteries Tesla is giving GM a tough time. Model S is designed with no compromise on performance and makes a simply outstanding car. Tesla is a company that has proved itself in a short term as a successful automaker and is a perfect example that a startup with just small expertise can become successful overnight.
