Six Lumia Phones May Be Released in Part of Windows Phone Realignment

Microsoft may be geared towards realigning its line of mobile devices. Rumors have it that the technology giant is releasing six new Lumia Windows Phone models in the coming year. Reports indicate that the company has begun developing the new Lumia series.

Lumia is Microsoft's first exclusive Windows-powered smartphone. The Nokia flagship has been released as a Windows Phone last December 2014, but it failed to improve the company's mobile phone sales. Windows Phone has only 3% of the total smartphone market in the United States.

But the six models may revive the declining Windows Phone market. The smartphones, along with the coming release of Windows 10 at the end of the month, seem to look really promising. Leaks on the phones, which have made rounds early this week, hint on a front-facing LED flash as well as some other features that can compete with other leading smartphone brands, International Business Times UK reported.

The previous weeks have indicated many developments regarding Microsoft Corporation's line of smartphones. Thus, many have said that the Windows Phone is as good as dead, following a massive job sacking of 7,800 positions in the Microsoft work force, specifically in its mobile business industry.

Microsoft's chief executive Satya Nadella asserted that although the company will stay loyal to its own mobile operating system, the mobile arm of the software company will be catering more to buyers of flagship devices. The company has also written off $8.4 billion for its deal with Nokia.

Previously, reports implied that the company will be releasing a maximum of six phones every year for its mobile arm. The phones will address three different customer segments such as business, affordable, and premium, all aimed for the flagship market.

However, with the current rumored release of six flagship models, the restructuring seems to be taking on a different direction. Hopefully, it's one that will help Windows Phone get back to its feet.
