OnePlus May Launch A Mini Smartphone In Time For Christmas

Chinese startup OnePlus is hinting on a new mobile model that may be released before the end of the year. Speculations point to a mini version of the company's flagship. Founder Carl Pei has not confirmed this rumor, and has only disclosed that the new phone will have specs which can either be bigger or smaller than that of OnePlus 2.

Internet reports have published their own forecasts about the upcoming smartphone. IBN reckons that the mini version will have the latest model's USB Type-C, which is one of the major selling points of the OnePlus 2. Other reports express hopes of the company making the mini version a device that is much more compact than and equally powerful to its bigger predecessors. The OnePlus 2 has a display size of 5.5 inches.

PCAdvisor UK, on the other hand, has indicated its expected price range for the yet-to-be-released device. The site's article puts the price at £150-£200 or $234-$312, for the OnePlus Mini. Pei has not divulged any other details about the rumored mini version, only saying that "It's going to be amazing, but I don't want to talk about it today," when asked about the device. He also hinted on a possible December release for the new OnePlus model, which will be "in time for Christmas."

Rumors of a mini OnePlus have begun circulating last year and has been predicted to launch early this year. The device that has been a subject of earlier rumors was said to have a 5-inch display, a small difference from the 5.5-inch OnePlus flagship.

Just a little more than a week ago, on July 27, OnePlus has launched its newest flagship, the OnePlus 2. The device has been welcomed by glowing reviews, citing the high specs and new features, which includes the USB Type-C and the finger sensor. The new flagship launched to much fanfare and is projected to be successful in unit sales like the Oneplus 1, which started virtually as an unknown device.
