Microsoft Releases Uber, Paypal And Evernote Add-ins For Outlook

Microsoft has begun rolling out add-ins for Microsoft Outlook. Outlook 2013, Outlook on the web for Office 365 and Exchange 2013 business users will be first in line in getting the new add-ins. The first batch of add-ins to be experienced by users will be coming from Paypal, Uber, Boomerang and Evernote. These will be coming to Outlook.com, as announced by the Redmond tech major in April this year.

The add-ins have been introduced in Microsoft's annual developers' conference, Build 2015. The add-ins, according to ZDNet, lets users accomplish tasks while on their inboxes. So there is no need for them to open a separate app to complete what they need to do. The email scheduling for add-ins from Uber, Paypal, Boomerang and Evernote are available to the aforementioned Outlook versions starting on Wednesday, Aug 12.

The functions of these add-ins will be available to Outlook.com users "within the next month." The first wave of roll-outs is targeted for commercial users such as businesses and enterprises. The updates are not used by Outlook 365 Personal and Outlook 365 Home. Ordinary users, however, may still access them with Outlook.com mail.

An updated Outlook.com has been announced in May. The improved edition features a refined inbox, improved search and collaboration capacities and an updated calendar. The preview for Outlook.com's newest edition has been made available on May 21. The preview has also first been rolled out to commercial users, but ordinary customers have been promised access for the updated Outlook.com just the same.

This is a step towards Microsoft tying Outlook and Outlook.com closer to one another. The company hopes to achieve this by allowing the two of them to share platforms and updates. The company is also reported to be increasing the number of testers for the new Outlook.com in the coming weeks.
