Nintendo's New App Lets You Catch Pokemon In Real Life

Tokyo, Japan- a press conference has been held for the  newest Pokemon game app. The game, which is called Pokemon Go, is not Japanese game company Nintendo's first Pokemon game to come to Android and iOS mobile devices. But Pokemon Go seems to be so interesting, or at least interesting enough, for the Pokemon Company to announce it in a press conference.

And it indeed is. The game, which is slated for a 2016 release, is a different Pokemon game in that it involves the real world in the player's gameplay. The player actually has to explore his surroundings to be able to catch them all. According to The Verge, if a player's virtual pokemon is hanging out with him in a particular place, he will know that it is there with him.

Also, as the user carries around his device and presumably the game, he will also be informed if a Pokemon is within the vicinity and then he will be able to catch it. What device provides the player with information about his Pokemon journey? Nintendo actually made a smartwatch-like device, called the Pokemon Go Plus, to come with the game.

The Pokemon Go Plus is wearable that can be attached to clothing like a badge, or worn around the wrist. The wearable is not really integral to the gameplay, but it makes the experience smoother and closer to the Pokemon world introduced by the widely popular franchise.

Pokemon Go is developed by Niantic, which is composed of former Google developers. The team is the brains behind the location-based game Ingress, The Guardian cited. Recently, the Pokemon Company and Nintendo have released the Pokemon Shuffle for Android and iOS. The free game can be downloaded from Nintendo's E-shop, as well as Play Store and App Store.

The new game is a product of Nintendo's second mobile partnership. The first has been with DeNa, which produced Super Mario games for mobile.
