Notable Trends This Year At Computex

Computex 2016 is taking place this week in Taipei, Taiwan, between May 31 and June 4. The high-tech event aims to take a new identity this year, with new trends in technology focusing especially on virtual reality (VR).

According to DigiTimes, as Taiwan begins asserting itself as being a key partner for building the global technology ecosystem and driving innovation, as well as the center of the global ICT supply chain, this year's event will mark a turning point for Asia's biggest tradeshow. This new positioning for the Computex show will be expressed in new exhibits including iSTyle that will feature a collection of Apple MFi certified products and accessories and InnoVEX, a startup village.

iStyle will feature a collection of Apple MFi certified accessories and products to complement devices such as the Apple Watch, iPad and iPhone. Acording to MIC, currently, the annual market for MFi certified accessories exceeds US$20 billion. The companies participating in the exhibit will showcase the latest developments in software, accessories and peripherals for MFi certified products including conectors, chargers and cables.

InnoVEX will host over 200 startup companies coming from 20 different countries. The exhibit's schedule is packed with forums, panels, keynotes and demos. In just a single venue, the startups will have the opportunity to connect with angel investors, international VCs, future customers and potential partners. The events will focus on entrepreneurial issues and startup technology.

According to Gizmodo, Computex 2016 will also present new components and gadgets for gaming PCs. All the major tech brands will participate with exhibitions and stands on show. Among the new technologies presented this year will be new peripherals such as mice, keyboards and headsets, alongside with case modding and PC overclocking competitions.

The major CPU manufacturers, Intel and AMD, will present new powerful CPUs. For instance, people can expect to hear more about AMD's new Bristol Ridge seventh-generation APUs that combine in a single silicon package a moderately powerful CPU with a moderately powerful GPU.

The traditional Taiwanese PC vendors such as Acer, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte will present new desktops and laptops. It is also expected to learn more about the miniaturized desktop PC MSI Vortex G65.

The biggest trends showing off at Computex 2016 will be virtual reality and wearable computing. Zotac, HP and MSI will present their backpack-sized reality gaming rigs.
