'Orange is the New Black' Season 5 Updates: What Will Be Daya's Fate After The Cliffhanger Season 4 Finale?

'Orange is the New Black' season four just ended with an emotional cliffhanger that involved Daya. The premiere of its fifth season has not yet been released to the public, but people are already speculating possible scenarios in its next installment.

After the breath-taking season four finale, there have been reports saying that Maria Ruiz in 'Orange is the New Black' is going to be having a shift in character. Jessica Pimentel, the actress portraying the role of Maria, said that there will definitely be something big revealed during the fifth season.

According to Parent Herald, in the fifth season, Daya may actually shoot and kill the character played by Michael Torpey, Correctional Officer Thomas Humphrey. However, there is no confirmation to this information. Viewers will have to wait for the fifth season to know if it will really happen.

According to the actress who portrays Daya, Dascha Polanco, her character in the show is currently going through a hard time in her life.  As reported by Movie News Guide, the character of Daya in 'Orange is the New Black' may probably just  be going through "postpartum depression", which results to her making indecisive actions. However, she does not reveal if she does shoot the sadist officer in that scene. 

When asked about the character of Bennet, played by Matt McGorry, the 33-year-old actress said that she would love for him to come back to the show. However, she admitted that she does not know wthat the creator has in store for her role with regards to the fifth season of 'Orange is the New Black'. With McGorry signing up for a major role in another series, Polanco believes it may not yet be possible for Bennet to come back to the picture.

There is still a lot in store for the characters of the show. The cast of 'Orange is the New Black' has already started filming for their fifth season. It is set to premiere on June 2017.
