MacBook Air 2016 News & Update: Is MacBook Air Line Getting Axed?

Most of the tech experts agree that we might never see a MacBook Air 2016.

Christian Times notes that the MacBook is already long-overdue for an update. The fact that Apple still did not release the 2o16 update of its MacBook Air may indicate that the ultra-thin model is being discontinued by the company.

More and more rumors and speculations suggest the possibility of Apple discontinuing its MacBook Air line of products. Mac Rumors, for instance, reports that Apple did update the 13-inch MacBook to 8 GB RAM back in April, but did not update the MacBook Air.  According to the online publication specialized on Apple products, this could be a major hint that the MacBook Air line of laptops is being discontinued in favor of the new MacBook.

Neurogadget also reports that Apple has no time to design and produce a new MacBook Air 2016 because the Cupertino-based high-tech company is still busy working on the iPad Pro.  With the arrival of the iPad Pro 2-in-1 convertible, the future of the MacBook Air line of ultra-thin laptops has been made uncertain.

The iPad Pro hybrid has been marketed by Apple as a replacement for laptops. With the addition of a Smart Keyboard, the iPad Pro device can be easily used as a laptop similar to the MacBook Air. It also makes perfect sense that Apple may be discontinuing the MacBook Air line in order to be able to focus all the resources on developing the iPad Pro and improving its MacBook Pro range.

Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at KGI, has previously stated that Apple will stop upgrades for both versions of 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air and will soon discontinue both devices.

According to Vine Report, not all tech analysts are ready to agree that Apple could actually stop the production of its MacBook Air line. Some are still willing to speculate that the high-tech company will actually launch a 2016 version.

For instance, Japanese website Mac Otakara claimed that Apple could launch the new MacBook Air in August. Among the features expected are included an OLDE touch display bar, a Lighting port replacing the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack and a 5K display.
