Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 Is Top Budget Graphics Card

The recently announced Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB will allow gamers on a budget to get access to a top graphics card.

According to Ars Technica, the detailed specs and price of the GTX 1060 3GB has been recently leaked online. The graphics card is faster than GTX 980, but will come with a price tag just slightly higher than AMD's RX 480.

The growing competition on the GPU market pushed Nvidia to launch the GTX 1060 soon after the launch of the GTX 1070 and GTX 1060. All three Nvidia graphics card models are based on the company's new Pascal technology.

The 3 GB video frame buffer variant of the new GTX 1060 has not been launched yet. However, from its leaked specs, tech experts expect that the GPU will be best budget graphics card on the market. At the moment, the already launched GTX 1060 6GB is faster than GTX 980, an Nvidia card that launched at $550 and still sells for $400 today.

AMD's aggressively priced RX 480 forced Nvidia to push the price tag down. AMD's GPU offers virtual reality-ready performance and an excellent 1080p. This pushed the budget fight with Nvidia to the next level. With GTX 1060, for the first time Nvidia has a mainstream GPU that can compete on both performance and price with AMD.

According to the website wccftech.com, the Geforce GTX 1060 3GB version comes with half the video memory and with lower CUDA core count. While the 1060 6GB version feature a total of 1280 CUDA cores, the 1060 3GB model only comes with 1152 cores. However, the 3GB version comes with the same memory bus-width as the 6GB version.

The Nvidia GTX 1060 runs quiet and cool with a light 120W TDP. And the best part is that the Geforce 1060 3GB version will retail for $150. This makes it the best GPU for gamers looking for best performance on a budget.
