DxOMark Places Sony Xperia X Performance On Top Position

Sony's Xperia X Performance flagship smartphone makes it to the very top of DxOMark's smartphone camera list, with a score of 88.

According to SlashGear, Xperia X Performance occupies the highest position on the digital photography benchmark site, followed by the HTC 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Sony is among the few smartphone maker companies that also has a strong involvement in the camera industry. The new Xperia X line has introduced the predictive hybrid AF smart technology that picks out the target and adjusts the autofocus automatically.

According to DxOMark, the predictive hybrid AF feature works as advertised by Sony, providing fast and accurate results. The images taken by using Sony's proprietary technology are reliable and consistent.

The digital photography benchmark site also praises the Sony Xperia X Performance in terms of moderately dark indoor shots and well-lit outdoor scenes. Dynamic range is excellent and exposure is pretty good as well.

The Xperia X Performance provides an overall good white balance, being able to render a neutral color cast with vivid and strong colors. The Auto HDR system is also performing well, providing accurate and fast focusing in various lightning conditions when shooting both video and stills..

When shooting still images in low-light conditions, the camera performance is also impressive, with excellent exposures in extreme low light and well-controlled noise. This is mainly due to camera's high 12,800 ISO setting.

In terms of 1080p video recording, the Xperia X Performance is also quite up to task. On the downside, the only problem encountered was the fact that camera in Xperia X Performance had problems with the Auto HDR function, which failed to kick in at times.

With the same 88 score for videos and still images, the Xperia X Performance achieves a solid 88 average in the DxOMark's digital photography benchmark and makes it to the top of the list.
