Reigning Gold Medalist Serena WIlliams Out Of Rio Olympics After Losing Singles In Round Three

The world of Tennis was in shock as the world's no.1 female tennis player Serena Williams lost at the third round of the Rio Olympics and is officially out of the competition. She and her sister, Venus already lost the doubles tournament, losing the singles has dismayed her and her fans.

There have been reports that the performance of Serena Williams during the Rio Olympics 2016 tennis tournament has come as a surprise to everyone. So many people expected more of her, however she delivered a mediocre performance during the game that led to her loss.

Serena Williams was the leading gold medallist but has now lost the chance to get any medal for the Olympics at all. NBC Olympics reported that Williams didn't play her best during the game, despite leading on the first set of the game. She lost the adrenaline from her initial lead and lost to Ukranian player, Elina Svitolina.

The third round of the tennis tournament for the Rio Olympics 2016 ended with one of the top tennis players losing at a score of 6-4, 6-3. During the second set, Svitolina had a great star but Williams caught up with her later on. The fans were overjoyed that Williams finally had her game up. However, it was only a moment of relief as she again trailed behind on the scoreboard.

USA Today reported that it will be the first time Serena Williams goes home from the Olympics without taking home any medal. During the London Olympics four years ago, she won the gold medal for singles division and silver medal for the doubles division.

She expressed her disappointment at the results, after the game. However, she did accept defeat and believed that the greater player won the match. One of her goals was just to make it to the Rio Olympics and she got that, she believed it was just right and decided to move on from the incident.
