Box Office News: Ben-Hur Fails, Suicide Squad Stays On Top

"Suicide Squad" is not going down despite three new films which opened in this weekends' box office.

DC's supervillains claimed the top spot for the third straight week seizing $20 million this week, to increase total gross to $262 million in domestic box office.

Still a runner-up, quirky animated film "Sausage Party" decreased by 55% with a total of $15.3 million this weekend and $65,326,000 overall.

On the other hand, newcomers "Ben-Hur," "War Dogs" and "Kubo and the Two Strings," seems to be having a hard time in the theaters.

Ben-Hur, starring  Jack Huston, debuted on fifth spot. The $100-million remake of one of the most loved Hollywood classics in 1959, and won 11 Oscars stared by legendary actor Charlton Heston, is facing a huge breakdown grossing only a little more than 10% of its budget on its first three days. ABC news also reports negative feedbacks on the Timur Bekmambetov film.

The other two new films were also at same pacing bringing in only a little over Ben-Hur.

On rank three is Todd Phillips' comedy-drama film, War Dogs, which is based on the true story of David Packouz and Efraim Diverolli as arms dealer of The US troop in Afghanistan. Its $14,300,000 grossing seems small considering Philips' portfolio but unlike Ben-Hur, it still has a chance to breakeven with its moderate production budget.

Animated film Kubo and the Two Strings claimed the fourth spot with a modest $12,610,000 opener, which ScreenCrush described as "not disastrous" but still "disappointing." The film follows the quest of young Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson) as he battle with monsters to save his family.

Others included on the top ten are fantasy-adventure film "Pete's Dragon", Kunis' comedy movie "Bad Moms,"  action thriller "Jason Bourne," blockbuster animated film "The Secret Life of Pets" and biographical-drama "Florence Foster Jenkins."
