Xiaomi Joins Smartwatch Game With $120 AMAZFIT Wearable

Xiaomi has the latest smartwatch on the market. It now has the AMAZFIT smartwatch, which is said to be an affordable wearable. Xiaomi has joined Apple, Samsung, LG and others in cashing in on the latest smartphone accessory.

The AMAZFIT smartwatch has a number of features for such an affordable price. It has a 1.2GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It also has a number of software for those who are into tracking their fitness progress, though unlike other smartwatches it doesn't have its own OS. According to Digital Trends it won't run on Android Wear, it will rather pair with Xiaomi's Mi Fit app. In that regard then it will be more like a regular watch with more added features.

The AMAZFIT smartwatch has a 200mAh battery which is said to be very economical, as it can run for up to five days without any recharge. If GPS is enabled it can run for up to 35 hours. That is good news for people who might be worried about the AMAZFIT running low on battery quite quickly.

For the AMAZFIT Xiaomi is handling it through its sub-brand, Huami, Android Headlines says in its report. This is also not the first smartwatch that Xiaomi has, starting out with the Mi band and then moving on to the Mi Bunny for kids.

In terms of price it is much cheaper than the other smartwatches now out. That is considering that it has a number of features on it. The Asus Zenwatch might be cheaper at $100 but it doesn't have GPS. On the other hand the Xiaomi AMAZFIT has a GPS sensor. It is said to be the world's first 28nm GPS sensor. Another feature that it has is a heart rate monitor.

The AMAZFIT will be retailing at $120 or 799 Yuan in China. Overall Xiaomi is doing well in its smartwatches as well as fitness trackers. With the new AMZFIT Xiaomi looks to continue to have a good hold on the smartwatch and fitness tracker industry.
