It was earlier announced that CW's hit series "The Vampire Diaries" will end in the next season. And with season 7 ending with Elena's voice calling out to Damon, fans are hopeful to see Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev's characters reunite before the series end.

While fans of the show are rejoicing with this possible reunion, Ian Somerhalder's wife Nikki Reed is not so happy about it according to GameNGuide. In fact, she was so upset by the news that she asked Ian to quit the series.

Further adding to the flame are rumors that Ian Somerhalder, as reported by Inquisitr, is willing to reunite with Nina Dobrev on the show and that he wants to rekindle their romance as well.

Rumor has it that Ian had already grown tired of his wife's demands and insecurity that he is now considering filing for divorce.

After Dobrev left the 6th season of "The Vampire Diaries" due to a fight with her ex boyfriend Somerhalder, the show's rating plummeted significantly that it was almost canceled. Executive Producer Julie Plec was the one who fanned the flames for a Damon and Elena reunion for season 8 which is the rumored cause of Ian and Nikki's divorce, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry.

Julie Plec mentioned that Nina made an emotional promise to return for the final season of "The Vampire Diaries" during the Comic Con 2016.

However, there is really no official confirmation on Nina Dobrev's return in "The Vampire Diaries" final season. And reports from FX News Call stated that she is currently filming a remake of the 1990 movie "Flatline" and might not be able to accommodate shooting for the show.

Somerhalder and Reed have been married for more than two years now and judging by how Somerhalder seemed infuriated by Julie Plec's statement about Dobrev's return, it might be safe to assume that if they do get divorced, Dobrev hopefully has nothing to do about it.
