2016 MacBook Pro: Why Apple Is Taking Its Time And What To Expect On September 7

In general, the MacBook Pro is a great and powerful gadget to have. However, Apple has hardly done anything to refresh or improve the unit since its release. As such, the 2016 MacBook Pro is expected to be unveiled any day now - likely at the September 7 event of Apple.

When Will The Public See The Device?

According to BGR, it is likely that the Cupertino-based company will take advantage of the event in order to announce the 2016 MacBook Pro along with the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch 2. Following the announcement, the new device is expected to be released into the market by this fall as well.

Rumored Specs

One of the most constant rumors surrounding the 2016 MacBook Pro is an OLED touchscreen that should run across the top of the device's keyboard, thereby replacing the Fn keys.

Other expected changes are the inclusion of a Touch ID sensor and a USB Type C port. Furthermore, the entire body of the 2016 MacBook Pro is expected to be both lighter and thinner than any of Apple's current offerings.

What's The Delay?

The delay, it would seem, lies primarily on the accessibility to processors. For a while now, it was rumored that the 2016 MacBook Pro would arrive with Intel's newest Kaby Lake processors. But as Apple Insider points out, it is highly unlikely that Apple will be the company to debut the Kaby Lake processor - not unless CEO Tim Cook has a surprise card for the public.

Exactly why Apple wants to wait for the new processor from Intel is understandable. After all, it uses the same 14nm process as the Skylake and enhances the same by providing support for the USB 3.1 Generation 2, thereby bringing 10 Gbps speeds. The processor is also expected to support better graphics.
