‘Gintama' Live-Action Movie News And Updates: Gintoki Scenes Finished Shooting; Set To Release In 2017

"Gintama" fans out there check this out! The beloved anime series is set to have a live-action adaptation to release in 2017 as announced by Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" magazine earlier this year.

Hideaki Sorachi began the manga in 2004 and it continues to rank as one of the top-selling manga worldwide. The manga's success was eventually brought to TV as it aired its anime version in 2006.

According to reports, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. is listed as the registrant on a "Gintama-Fil.com" domain name.

Meanwhile, Director Yūichi Fukuda shared the good news on his official Twitter account on Tuesday, revealing that "Gintama" has finished filming all scenes of Gintoki, the series' protagonist.


To celebrate the said progress, Hideaki Sorachi gave the lead actor, Shun Oguri a sketch with a message reading, "Thank you for running Yorozuya for the past two months. You have become Gintoki Sakata, one of my precious sources of income, so please give me 800 billion yen (or Yu Yamada)."

It can be recalled that the progress of "Gintama" movie has been shared by its official Twitter account, posting several stills on set.

Meanwhile, reports also reveal the cast members of the upcoming "Gintama" movie. The live-action film will be portrayed by Shun Oguri as Gintoki Sakata, Masaki Suda as Shinpachi Shimura, Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura, Masami Nagasawa as Tae Shimura, Masaki Okada as Kotaro Katsura, Tsuyoshi Muro as Gengai Hiraga, Yuuya Yagira as Toshiro Hijikata, Ryo Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita and Kankurō Nakamura VI as Isao Kondo.

"Gintama" will premiere in Japan next year to be written and directed by Fukuda.
