‘Son Of Zorn’ Season 1: What Should You Expect With This Half Live Action, Half Animation From Fox?

Fox might have just made their weirdest show to date in the form of "Son of Zorn." The show follows the story of a swashbuckling "He-Man" like character (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) moving from his fully animated home town Zephyria to Orange County. His move was prompted by his yearning to be with his 17-year-old son Alangulon (Johnny Pemberton) and noncartoon ex-wife Edie.

How could you resist a spread like that, Edie? East Coast, tune in for #SonOfZorn RIGHT NOW!

Most of the jokes in the series stem from Zorn's fish out of the water situation. He is mostly clueless in the noncartoon town that he is in but for the most part, he also seems oblivious to it. One example is that he got a job with a female boss named Linda, he does, however, refuse to accept that Linda is a woman and views her as a man instead.

The series premiere was first shown to some critics and most believe that the "Son of Zorn" is a bit strange but it is also quite funny. According to a report by The Guardian, "There is a couple of laugh out loud moments and surprisingly, the humor is quite relatable." They further reported, "Everything here is just taken to its absurd extreme and features a tone-deaf dude without a shirt swinging around a cartoon sword."

The show is not without flaws, though a source thinks that the pilot episode needs a little bit more work. It stumbles on finding the balance of being a cross between the nature of a typical sitcom and the colorful character living within a nonanimated world.

"Son of Zorn" is a series that is worth checking out. Critics think that the show will only improve further once Zorn gets over the situation he is in. Viewers should expect that "Son of Zorn" will even get crazier and weirder as the show progress, hopefully, in a good way.

"Son of Zorn" Season 1 Episode 2 will air on September 25, 2016.
