GoPro Hero 5 Release Date And News: Action Camera To Be Revelead On September 19

The GoPro action camera maker has scheduled a media event on Sept. 19 for its Karma drone and there are speculations that the highly-anticipated Hero 5 camera will be unveiled during the same event as well.

Hero 5 Action Camera

GoPro has kept silent about the Hero 5 so far. However, more details are known about the Karma drone that is speculated to be unveiled by Sept. 19. According to Christian Today, there are rumors suggesting that the drone's launch will come along with the highly-anticipated next-generation action camera from GoPro.

According to Digital Trends, earlier this summer GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman stated in a press release dedicated to investors that the company plans to refresh its Hero camera line and the Hero 5 would come on the market in the fourth quarter of 2016. GoPro needs a new camera since its flagships Hero 4 Silver and Hero 4 Black are now nearly two years old and the sales are failing. Scott Peterson, a senior analyst for Gap Intelligence, said that as GoPro enters a new category, the next launch will be the most important ever.

Hero 5 Specs & Features

Speculations suggest that the Hero 5 action camera will have the capability to record 8K resolution videos up to 30 frames per second and 4K videos at 60 frames per second, GameNGuide reported. For a slower output video, the highly-anticipated flagship GoPro action camera will also provide a 1080p resolution with up to 240 frames per second.

Techno Buffalo reported previously that the Hero 5 video camera will be waterproof, able to withstand water depth up to 10 feet. With the use of a special case it is said that it can even go deeper.

The GoPro Hero 5 will reportedly come with a battery capacity of 1,220 mAh, a touch screen, and a USB-C port. The upcoming action camera will have no physical Power/Mode button at the front.
