Samsung, Nokia, HTC, Huawei to Launch Windows Phone 8 devices: iPhone may feel the heat

The revolution has begun and the market waves are expected to carry a slew of Windows 8-powered smartphones by October and November.

Gone will be the days when the mainstream smartphone market would be just confined to Android and IOS. Mobile manufacturers like Samsung, Nokia, HTC and others are prepping their big shots against the current dominators of the market.

With the launch of Windows Phone 8 Apollo at the summit in San Francisco, Microsoft has announced that the first devices to run on the all-new Windows Phone 8 will be by Nokia, HTC, Samsung and Huawei. However, company has not given any specific details about the availability.

The software giant has revealed that these smartphones will be powered by a Qualcomm processor, probably dual-core.

HTC and Huawei have confirmed that they are indeed working on Windows Phone 8 devices. Huawei is building 'Ascend' as their first phone on Windows Phone 8 and will release it this year in U.S., Europe, and China.

On the other hand, Samsung and Nokia haven't divulged the specific device plans.

Here is a brief listing of all the expected WP8 devices from the major manufacturers:

Reports claimed that Samsung's first Windows Phone 8 smartphone will be named Samsung Focus 2 with the manufacturer chipping in S3's faster processor, a bigger and higher resolution screen and LTE.

Further, Samsung Focus 2 is anticipated to sport a 4.7-inch HD screen, 12-megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, NFC, a dedicated camera button, support for Samsung's cloud storage service and a faster dual/quad core processor (depending on region).

The phone would be coming to the market in October through various wireless carrier operators, including AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.

Nokia Lumia Pureview Windows 8

Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has real big plans to dent the smartphone arena with its giant offerings sometime later this year.

Nokia launched Lumia 900 and last month and the company is secretly working on its first Lumia smartphone which will feature Pureview camera technology and the latest version of Microsoft's Windows 8 (Apollo).

The news came from a website, IT168.com, where it speculated that Nokia has integrated this technology in the unannounced Lumia PureView smartphone that will come packed with an impressive 41-megapixel camera with Carl-Zeiss lens and PureView imaging technology, and would be able to capture full HD (1080p) videos with Nokia's Rich Recording Technology.

Furthermore, the smartphone is expected to come with large 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen (curved glass) display that supports HD resolution. On the inside, the Lumia PureView would be equipped with some kind of dual-core processor manufactured by Qualcomm and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit.

 HTC Windows Phone With Apollo

HTC, one of Microsoft's key mobile partners, also has big plans for Windows Phone 8 according to a roadmap obtained by The Verge.

The Taiwanese manufacturer is planning three Windows Phone 8-powered smartphones, the entry-level Rio, mid-range Accord and flagship Zenith.

The Rio will feature a 4-inch WVGA display, a Qualcomm MSM8227 processor and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video capture support.

The Accord will include a larger 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p out, HSPA+ connectivity, NFC, 1GB of RAM and a dual-core processor, possibly a Qualcomm MSM8260A.

HTC's most interesting smartphone, the Zenith, will reportedly be equipped with a massive 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 display, an unnamed quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and the same 8-megapixel camera found in the Accord.

The Rio and Accord are slated to be released in October, while the Zenith will launch sometime in the fourth quarter.
