Capcom's 'Monster Hunter' Gets A Live-Action Movie Adaptation In Hollywood

Monster Hunter, a fantasy-themed action RPG. Developed by Capcom is now being turned into a Hollywood movie.

Ryozo Tsujimoto, Producer from Capcom, announced during the Tokyo Game Show that Hollywood is planning to make the game into a full live-action movie. Details about the movie including director, casts, storyline and even release date are not yet given but Tsujimoto said development is already underway.

The game Monster Hunter started in Playstation 2. Players of the game take the role of a monster hunter in a fantasy setting and complete mission by finding specific creatures to capture or kill. Each player starts as a novice Hunter and each task not only supports but also protect the villages. Aside from hunting, players can also collect resources that are received from the field. Players can customize their armors, weapons, and equipment that can give bonus or penalty to players.

Today, the game has expanded to portable devices of Playstation and in MMORPG titled "Monster Hunter Freedom", Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Monster Hunter Tri, and Monster Hunter Frontier Online.

Monster Hunter is very popular not only in Japan but in the west side of the globe as well, selling millions of copies and became the highest-selling third-party Wii game in Japan. As of February 17, 2015, the game has already sold over 32 million units.

An anime and a book have also been created based on Monster Hunter's storyline titled "Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village" and "Monster Hunter EPISODE" respectively.

This is not the first RPG game turned into a movie. Warcraft debuted early this year and although not everyone was pleased, the movie was a big hit in China. Another movie from an RPG game titled "Assasin's Creed" is on its way and based on the teasers released, it could be a really good movie.
